Br. Mortensen is a home-grown Idaho native from the metropolis of Inkom, Idaho. Growing up in Inkom was a sweet experience with bike riding, bike jumping, fishing and hunting, kick-the-can, and impromptu football and baseball games whenever time would allow. Finally, graduation from Marsh Valley High School was a reality and off to Basic Training for the United States Army where Rick served in the National Guard for 8 years with a full-time mission to the Bogota, Colombia South Mission in the middle of those service years. He loved his mission and the people of Colombia to this day hold a special place in his heart and life!!
Rick married Pam (beautiful story so please ask him) and they have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. He has taught for the Seminaries and Institutes of Religion Program for 20-ish years in the Treasure Valley and enjoys learning from heaven with the youth and young adults. He has particularly loved teaching in the adapted needs arena and is currently teaching at the Ontario Campus. It is a pleasure to have Br. Mortensen with us (he may or may not have written that part 😊) and he is excited to learn from heaven at the Treasure Valley institute!!!
